CWA files unfair labor practice charge against eBay’s trading card subsidiary
eBay Finally Facing the Music for Unfair Labor Practices
We all know eBay is infamous for its occasionally sketchy practices, but even the quintessential Wild West of online auctions has its limits. The Communications Workers of America (CWA) filed an Unfair Labor Practices charge against eBay’s trading card subsidiary, PSA Sports, as of last Friday.

What did PSA Do?
The charge came about after PSA Sports attempted to unilaterally change the following for its employees:
- pay structure
- work hours
- overtime relief policy
These changes would have been illegal, but PSA Sports tried to do it anyways. Oh eBay…
Don’t Mess with the CWA
Fortunately, the CWA is not going to put up with this nonsense. The labor union acted swiftly, calling out PSA Sports within a day. CWA also soon joined forces with PSA workers to form a new union, which CWA says “will represent 196 PSA Sports workers” to improve their work conditions.
eBay and the Unions
This is not eBay’s first run-in with the CWA. Back in September, CWA called attention to another of eBay’s issues—failure to address women in its workforce. At the time, CWA urged eBay to “take concrete steps,” and it looks like they’re not letting up.
Let’s just hope that eBay finally learns not to mess with the powers that be.
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, right?
