Production Designer “Shocked” at the Cleanliness of Alberta

Are you one of those people who loves a place so much that no matter where you are in the world, your heart will always remain in Alberta?

Well, you’re in good company, because it seems even the production designer of one of the most popular video game franchises of all time, The Last of Us, is a fan of Alberta.

The Amazing Alberta

Neil Druckmann was recently speaking to the Edmonton Sun and revealed that when he visited the province to work on the film adaptation of the game, he was “shocked” at the “cleanliness” of the place.

Yes, it’s true: Alberta is not only beautiful but also clean. So clean that it took the production designer of a game known for its gore and sometimes gruesome content to be taken aback by the pristine state of the province.

Druckmann didn’t just reveal his thoughts on the cleanliness of Alberta, though. He also highlighted a few other aspects of the province that he found particularly exciting. Here are a few of his thoughts:

  • The City’s People– Not only was Druckmann impressed by the scenery of Alberta, but he was also quite taken with its people. He said he was “blown away” by the “kindness and friendliness” of everyone he met in the city.
  • The Landscape– It’s no surprise that Druckmann was also taken with the landscape of the province. He said that the abundance of trees and lakes helped create an atmosphere of “serenity” that he found quite inspiring.
  • The Weather– Though he was born and raised in California, Druckmann can appreciate the unique weather of Alberta. He enjoyed the “cool air” and even jokingly described the summer months as “hibernation” for him.

A New Standard for Cleanliness

It seems that Druckmann was quite taken with Alberta during his time there. We can’t help but wonder if his trip around the province has set a new standard for cleanliness in video games. After all, what’s the fun of killing zombies if you can’t do it in a spotlessly clean province?

In the end, it’s clear that even those involved with the intense and often dark world of video games can still appreciate the beauty of Alberta. After all, it’s a place that can shock and impress even the most jaded of production designers.

There’s no place like Alberta!
