EA cancels mobile Apex Legends and Battlefield games, shutters Industrial Toys studio
EA Cancels Mobile Games and Shuts Down a Studio, At Least There’s Still Sim City…Right?
It’s a somber day in the gaming community as Electronic Arts announces the end of two mobile games, Apex Legends and Battlefield. They’re also closing down their Industrial Toys studio.

The End of Apex Legends and Battlefield
Before you grab your pitchforks and torches, let’s clear something up: these are both mobile titles, so don’t worry, your PC gaming experience is still perfectly safe.
Still, EA has chosen to shut some things down. On the mobile front, Apex Legends and Battlefield’s games are both gone for good.
The Shuttering of the Studio
On top of this, EA is also closing their Industrial Toys studio, so no more Morning Star to look forward to. The studio wrote a nice goodbye post on their blog, citing the COVID-19 pandemic and rising costs of mobile develoment as the driving forces behind EA’s decision.
It Ain’t All Bad News
At least Sim City is still alive, right? That iconic game will continue to entertain us (and not allow us to build a sustainable city, but that’s a story for another day).
So while it’s a bit of a bummer to hear about the cancelation of Apex Legends and Battlefield’s mobile games as well as the Industrial Toys studio, it’s not all bad news. We still have Sim City, no matter how impossible it is to play.
But at the end of the day, it’s a sad day to be a gamer. Never forget.
